Family Wellness Counseling What a blessing we have at Bethel with Family Wellness Counseling in our Christian Activity Center. Family Wellness Counseling is designed to provide affordable counseling services for couples, individuals and families. The rates vary according to one’s ability to pay and insurance will often cover the cost of counseling. This group, which has offices in multiple locations, began at our own Epworth Family and Children’s Services. When the funding that started them at Epworth was no longer available several churches in the St. Louis area stepped in to assist. The administrative office is housed at the Salem in Ladue United Methodist Church. According to FWC, early intervention with personal, marital and family issues prevents larger problems from developing. It is the philosophy of FWC that people have the ability to enrich their lives and solve their problems. The therapeutic experience is designed to access the strengths of each client. In the safe, confidential and respectful environment of FWC, clients identify problems and set goals for themselves. With the help of their trained therapists they work toward the achievement of those goals. Some of the issues commonly addressed are parent-child conflicts, work and school related problems, marital problems, depression and grief, substance use or abuse, relationship problems and retirement and other life transitional problems. Many people in our community have been and are being helped by FWC. The therapists at FWC are professionals with advanced degrees, licensed to provide psychotherapy in the State of Missouri. They have expertise and specialized training in individual, couple and family therapy. This outreach into the Wildwood and West County community provides a much needed service with the added benefit of many more area residents finding our location.
