Life Groups Are L.I.F.E. groups right for you? Definition The small groups at Bethel United Methodist Church (now called Bethel LIFE Groups) are communities of 6 - 12 people who gather monthly for the intention of discovery and growing in Christ-likeness and loving others.
Purpose 1. To nurture members and friends at Bethel 2. To pray for one another 3. To develop disciples for Jesus Christ 4. To encourage each other to “grow in the faith” 5. To provide prayer support 6. To welcome new disciples into God’s church family 7. To support each other in time of need 8. To insure that no one is forgotten as Bethel grows in size.
Goals Persons who take part in small groups strive to accept one another with an open heart. Everyone is encouraged to participate freely. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. What is spoken in the group remains in the group. Participants are encouraged to come prepared, share honestly and listen caringly. Meeting Agenda Each Month
What Does A Facilitator Do? As a facilitator for a LIFE group, your greatest gift to the group members is not your input, but your ears! The goal during each discussion time is to listen to God’s personal message to each participant. The intent of the group is not primarily to analyze the material or learn precise spiritual principles. The purpose is to encourage each other to become more aware of God’s voice, presence and activity in the issues and circumstances of their lives and to feel free to share their thoughts with the group. As the facilitator, you will help set the tone for the group by how real you are in your own sharing. Facilitators are fellow travelers on the Christian path who humbly, lovingly and respectfully travel together with others. Why Are Small Groups Called “LIFE” Groups? The “LIFE” acronym in the title aptly depicts what small group ministry is all about. Whether you are single or a couple, young or old, male or female—every person who participates in a small group will experience:Love (unconditional acceptance) Intercession (prayer support) Fellowship (fun and relaxation) Encouragement (spiritual reinforcement through study and sharing) In other words, as you participate you will experience LIFE!
