“A Partnership between Bethel UMC and Chonguene UMC”

The following letter was received from our partner church in Mozambique, Africa, Chonguene United Methodist Church.

Dear Partners at Bethel UMC,

We've been partners for a while now and have not yet written.  So we take this opportunity to say hello and ask you how your work has been going?   Here in Mozambique everything is going well thanks to love of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We want to thank you so much for the help you gave us of 10.000 USD for our medical Assistance.  May God bless you so much for that. We have started a small Project in our Parish which is going to help Orphan and Vulnerable Children in our Parish. Apart from this Project we also plan to help People Living with HIV/AIDS.  On the 10th of September we had a Special Service praying for our Partners so may God bless you and help you all the way of life.  We have introduced healing services in our Parish which are held every 15 days. This services have been helping us a lot for getting many Church members.

Here we stop.  Hoping to hear from you very soon.
God Bless you a lot

“The Mozambique Initiative” is a part of the Missouri Conference ministry.  These partnerships are made between churches, group and individuals of the UMC of Missouri with congregations and districts of The United Methodist Church in Mozambique.

These partnerships strengthen the church in Mozambique and are the backbone on Missouri’s mission and ministry. The covenants have literally saved lives by putting food on the table and building shelter for pastor families.  In addition, the Initiative provides many other opportunities for ministry, like leadership development, assisting retired pastors, drilling wells and supporting health care.

Rev. Vicente Alberto Mauaie is the pastor of Chonguene United Methodist Church.  We will be receiving personal information about the Pastor and his family.  Chonguene UMC has not had a Covenant Partner in the past; therefore, new information will be placed in on this site and in “The Open Door” as it is received.
